Badsberg Wine Cellar lies in the picturesque Breedekloof, at the foot of the well known Badsberg Mountain, from which the cellar derives its name. The cellar is situated a mere 800m from the Goudini Spa Holiday Resort, 20 km from Worcester and plus minus 80 km from Cape Town. For five generations winemaking has been at the centre of our family. Today, more than 150 years later, we are still building on this rich heritage and we invite you to share in this by enjoying our wines and visiting us at Lateganskop Cellar. Lateganskop is situated on the R43 that runs from the Breedekloof area to the town of Wellington. The winery was built in 1969 by Willem Lategan, affectionately remembered as Oupa Willie. Since Oupa Willie passed away at the age of 102, the cellar is now owned by five of his family members, all Lategans. Wines such as Chenin Blanc, Semillon, Riesling and Colombar and other red wines include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Ruby Cabernet are produced. We are currently upgrading our cellar to include a permanent wine tasting centre. Until this is complete, wine tasting is available by prior arrangement.

The Farm was established in 1825. The Marais Family was the original owners and has been ever since. The Marais originated from just outside Paris in a marshy region called Marais and is a suburb of the city today. The original owners started as live stock farmers, they began planting cash crop later and fruit trees, apples (which they made Cider from the one house on the farm, which is still called the apple house). Following at the end of the 19th century vines was planted but it was only at the end of the Great War that vineyards was planted as sole income commodity because of a shortage of wine in Europe. All the farms had their own cellars but at the end of the 2nd world war Co-ops started. Owner, Kosie Marais’s, grandfather donated the grounds for the current Co-op but still kept his own cellar Breëland as he was a good wine maker and businessman. The Ou Stokery Restaurant was the final leg of our lifelong dream for the farm and came to live in July 2017. The vision of the restaurant was to provide a better working environment for our farm workers. Executive Chef Ashley Conquest’s passion for people and good food made him a perfect fit to lead this amazing team. At the restaurant, we aim to serve as fresh and local food as possible. The variety on the blackboard is a showcase of Ashley’s selection of meats that are smoked weekly on site and paired with sides to perfection. Our floor manager is Authur Kadema, originally from Zimbabwe, also known at Pigalle restaurant as King Arthur. He impressed both Deon & Mariëtte so much when he served them there back in 2016 that they approached him to join the team and look after the service and training of the staff – today he is part of the “family” and lives on the farm. All liquor products served in the restaurant is made in the “Ou Stokery” building and no products, wine, beer etc. is allowed to be brought in.

– Nestled in the Breedekloof valley at the foot of the Du Toitskloof Mountains, lies the family owned Stofberg Wine Estate. Since the late 1800’s wine making became one of the many traditions of the farm Klipdrift where the current winemaker, Du Toit Stofberg followed in his father’s footsteps as winemaker. In 1949 his father, PJD Stofberg(Piet Tof) joined his uncle, Jacobus Du Toit and aunt, Marina Du Toit(Stofberg) on the farm. Soon Pieter, 3rd Stofberg winemaker of the estate and first namesake of his grandfather will join the family, setting forth the tradition by being the 5th generation winemaker of the estate. The Stofberg private family cellar was the first cellar in the Goudini area to implement cold fermentation. The Stofberg history goes back to 1764 when Jacobus Stofberg arrived at the Cape on board ‘Het Hoop’. Stofberg Estate is a tribute to the noble roots of the Stofberg family, especially to our late father and grandfather Piet Stofberg – an estate where tradition meets vision.

Ou Stokery

The Ou Stokery Restaurant was the final leg of our lifelong dream for the farm and came to live in July 2017. The vision of the restaurant was to provide a better working environment for our farm workers. Executive Chef Ashley Conquest’s passion for people and good food made him a perfect fit to lead this amazing team. At the restaurant, we aim to serve as fresh and local food as possible. The variety on the blackboard is a showcase of Ashley’s selection of meats that are smoked weekly on site and paired with sides to perfection. Our floor manager is Authur Kadema, originally from Zimbabwe, also known at Pigalle restaurant as King Arthur. He impressed both Deon & Mariëtte so much when he served them there back in 2016 that they approached him to join the team and look after the service and training of the staff – today he is part of the “family” and lives on the farm. All liquor products served in the restaurant is made in the “Ou Stokery” building and no products, wine, beer etc. is allowed to be brought in.

Die Eike Restauarant is surrounded by vineyards with views of majestic mountains with old Oak trees infront of the restaurant. Die Eike Restauarant is situated in the breathtaking Slanghoek Valley on the Breedekloof Wine Route. This valley forms part of the Breede River Valley 20km from Worcester and 5 km from Rawsonville. Die Eike Restaurant is a family restaurant where kids can run and play outside. (we do kidies parties} In winter our fire place gives you the fealing of warm hospitality, just like at home. Try some of our freshly baked breads or alternately treat yourself to a freshly baked muffins and scones and other sweet treats.  We also stock a wide variety of sauces, home made jams, honey and pickles to tickle your fantasy.
